Oh Magic 8 Ball!: Is Glenn Beck Fixin' To Get Fired From Fox News?

Posted: Monday, March 7, 2011 | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , , 2 COMMENTS

Way back in November of 2009, I pondered the possibility of Lou Dobbs replacing the train wreck at Fox News that has become Glenn Beck. I wrote in this blog post that my prediction is that Lou Dobbs will replace an already burned out Glenn Beck at Fox News and do so in Beck's timeslot.

While Dobbs is already slated to revamp is "Lou Dobbs Tonight" show at Fox, a later reassignment into Beck's old timeslot would be likely.

It would be similar to how Lawrence O'Donnell's show was allowed to get underway, but then shifted timeslots once Keith Olbermann was purged from MSNBC's line-up.

I'm sure Fox News Exec's are contemplating the worst case scenario of another presidential election cycle with Glenn Beck and a functioning microphone. I think it all began when Beck changed the format of his show from the traditional behind the desk news program into what it's become. A never ending revisionist history lesson complete with chalkboards and homework assignments. It's not surprising that Becks literary offerings to the world are the textbooks required to understand his convoluted message.

Even further back in July of 2009 in this blog post I was wondering if Lou Dobbs was 'screen testing' for Fox News. He seemed to be going in a conspiratorial direction similar to Beck when Dobbs started to embrace controversy by pretending not to embrace it. One of my favorites was how Dobbs would say that President Obama could put the whole birther thing to rest if he'd just show 'everyone' his 'real' birth certificate. Then he'd quickly clarify that by 'real' birth certificate, he meant the 'original' birth certificate.

Now there are rumblings of Beck's pending demise in the New York Times today that anonymous officials at Fox News are "looking at the end of his contract in December and contemplating life without Mr. Beck."

I have to say that I have no idea how this is going to pan out. I mean one can always hope, right? - Hang on a minute! - I got it!

SHAKE! - SHAKE! -SHAKE

Question: Oh Magic 8 Ball ! - Is Glenn Beck's goose cooked over at Fox News?

Answer: Doubtful :(

FUCK YOU MAGIC 8 BALL! - YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT!

Shepard Smith = Marilyn Munster: The Only Pretty One In A House Full of Freaks

Posted: Sunday, March 6, 2011 | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , , , 3 COMMENTS

The definition of Shepard Smith "going rogue" is when he inserts facts into his news reporting and agrees with popular opinion.

Of course this type of constructive journalism always results in the sycophantic viewership of Fox News calling for Smiths immediate termination.

When Smith dropped the "F" bomb during his infamous "WE DON'T FUCKING TORTURE!" outburst, the video hit YouTube and the right-wing distain for Smith was immediate. A commentor on the Fox News website called Smith a "mamby-pamby closet liberal." and question why "Fox still has him on the air."

Pamela Geller, editor of the Atlas Shrugs Website, thrashed Smith in a June post on World Net Daily by writing that Smith was "torturing conservatives" and that "Shepard Smith has got to go." Another blogger dismissed him as a "cowardly narcissist."

When discussing the Wisconsin union workers protest with guest Juan Williams, Smith said that "to pretend that this is about a fiscal crisis in the State of Wisconsin is malarkey." Williams did not disagree with Smith, but nevertheless warned Smith that he will be upsetting many viewers by presenting the facts. Smith brushed it off by saying that "facts are troublesome creatures sometimes." as shown in the clip below.

.

Jon Stewart, host of "The Daily Show," dubbed Smith "the black Shep of the Fox family" for his fair & balanced reporting on the presidential campaign. Stewart said the Fox anchor had gone rogue by taking Joe The Plumber to task over his "Obama = the death of Israel" comment as shown in the clip below.

As I recently commented on a post over at NewsHounds. I pointed out how Shepard Smith is the only on-air personality at Fox News that lends a smidge of credibility to the entire network. Smith has been at Fox News from it's inception in 1996 and that's why calls for his ouster are soundly rejected time-after-time. However, I do beleive that there is an obvious method to the madness on the part of Fox News programming executives when it comes to Smith's style compared to that of his Fox counterparts.

For me, watching Shepard Smith apply his craft on the Fox News Channel, is like watching old episodes of the 60's tee-vee classic "The Munsters." In this case, Shepard Smith is obviously playing the role of Marilyn Munster. How intertaining it was then, as it is today, to watch a lone pretty person co-exist amongst a house full of freaks.

News Corpse: Paranoid Style Of Glenn Beck

FROM NEWS CORPSE
The Paranoid Style Of Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck was born on February 10, 1964. Later that same year a professor from Columbia University authored what now appears to be a prophetic description of what that child would become.

From The Paranoid Style in American Politics by Richard Hofstadter

The paranoid spokesman sees the fate of conspiracy in apocalyptic terms–he traffics in the birth and death of whole worlds, whole political orders, whole systems of human values. He is always manning the barricades of civilization. He constantly lives at a turning point.

Like religious millennialists he expresses the anxiety of those who are living through the last days and he is sometimes disposed to set a date for the apocalypse. (”Time is running out,” said Welch in 1951. “Evidence is piling up on many sides and from many sources that October 1952 is the fatal month when Stalin will attack.”)

LA Weekly Uses Age Progressed Photo Of Charlie Sheen For Blog Post

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

LA Weekly has, I hope, unwittingly used an age progressed photo of Charlie Sheen in this blog post today. The cruxt of the post is regarding a $3 million dollar offer to Sheen by a Los Angeles based beverage company.

The Chill Group said it would offer Sheen a $3 million dollar endorsement deal for their "Just Chill" product if he'll shut up and......um.....you know? - Just chill for a month.

It's a great marketing ploy since the products catch phrase is "Live above the noise."

Now what caught my attention immediately was the photo that LA Weekly used for the blog post. It is a still shot (shown below) from an episode of TWO and a half MEN where Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer are made up to look atleast a decade older.

With so many current photos of Sheen available in the public domain, why would they select this image? - It's my guess that Charlie Sheen looks so terrible these days that LAWeekly actually thought it was a current photo. - Nevertheless, poor Charlie can't seem to catch a break. For that reason I used the best photo of Sheen that I could find at the top of my blog post.

KTVN NEWS 13 - Drug Dealers Can Write-Off Guns As Business Expense

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | 0 COMMENTS

For some reason, KTNV News 13 in Las Vegas is reporting that "criminals can write off income from their illegal activity."
After discussing how strippers can write-off their breast implants, KTVN's Tina Patel plays a clip of an unidentified man who suggest that drug dealers could and should be able to write off gun purchases used to defend their business interest. Including the suitcases used to transport the drugs. After all of that, the bad news in that the IRS will not allow writing-off a hot tub as an office expense.

Only in Las Vegas folks.

George Carlin: Corporations Own The Country

Posted: Tuesday, March 1, 2011 | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: 0 COMMENTS

It's almost as if George Carlin is speaking from the grave on current events. But I don't think what is going on in Wisconsin is as much of an assult on unions as much as it is an attack on the middle class.
