Sean Hannity Tells Jerry Springer That His Parents Must've Dropped Him On His Head

Sean Hannity tells Jerry Springer that his parents must have dropped him on his head because he supports Barack Obama.

I assume that means that Hannity thinks that half of America has been dropped on their heads by their parents. I don't think Hannity's parents dropped him on his head, I'm sure there's another (nurological) explaination for his skewed view of America.

Laura Ingraham Needs To STFU With Her "Evil Mosque" Rant Already

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , , 0 COMMENTS

In every segment that Laura Ingraham has participated in regarding the Park 51 Islamic Community Center, which she refers to as a Mosque, she likes to set the constitutional aspect of the argument aside by saying:

"Nobody is saying that they don't have a constitutional right to build it wherever they want, but 70% of Americans believe it should be built somewhere else, so shouldn't they do that?"

It reminds me of one of those juvenile questions from Jr. High School like "Does your mom know that you're gay?" and then everyone has a good laugh when some kid fails to realize that the question is invalid, but tries to answer it anyway.

If Ingraham asked me weather they should build the Mosque elsewhere because 70% of Americans believe they should, I would take the position that giving up constitutional rights to satisfy public opinion is something that I would never encourage any person or group of people to do.

Once you let that genie out of the bottle, it's not going back inside until everyone else has made the same mistake. An Islamic Mosque today, a Budist Temple tomorrow. Of course Ingraham wants to nail you to the question and I can just hear her saying "But what do you think? - Do you think they should ignore 70% of Americans?"

There's nothing wrong with saying that they should do whatever is in their best interest and I'm not sure why so many of her guest feel like there is something wrong in taking that position.

However, in the real world down here on earth where Ingraham and Fox News are wagging the dog over this issue, the developers of Park 51 should not overlook Fox's ability to incite crazy people to do crazy things. Just like Glenn Beck's continious rant about The Tides Foundation resulted in someone attempting to pay them a visit with loaded weapons.

I truely believe that Ingraham is trying to create enough fear and outrage with her "evil mosque" rant until some Glenn Beck fan pays The Park 51 site a visit in the wee hours of the night with a can of gasoline and a book of matches. Let's not forget that Bill O'Reilly's continuous rant about Dr. George Tiller finally resulted in him being shot and killed in his own church. Therefore, my supposition is not just hypothetical, but probable giving The Fox News Channels track record for indirectly inciting violence.

The Developers of park 51, in my opinion, should issue a press release saying that they have considered their options are going to look for another location or that they are commited to the Park 51 location and that the matter is closed. This way the rational people can say "Okay, we gave it a shot" and the radicals who like to pick and choose when the U.S. Constitution should be applicable can go ahead with trying to get an injunction to hault construction. Because that is exactly what they are going to do.

If you don't cower to their bark, they're gonna bite. I just hope that The Park 51 Group makes the right dicision. Whatever that may be is not for me to decide, but I know what I would do.

As for Ingraham's suspicions about where the money is coming from to pay for the community center, if she has any reasonable suspicion that terrorist orgainzations are involved, she should contact the FBI, DHS, or even the NYPD for that matter. I suspect that she hasn't since a major funder of the park 51 site is the second largest stockholder in Fox News and it's parent company News Corp.

MSNBC Anchor Thomas Roberts Says He Too Is Gay During Segment Re: Ken Mehlman

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 3 COMMENTS

MSNBC Anchor Thomas Roberts mentioned that he too is gay during Ken Mehlman Segment with GOProud chairman Christopher Barron. Barron said that he thought that Mehlman was courageous for coming out. But this shouldn't come as a surprise to most since Robert's spoke about his sexuality back on 2008 after leaving CNN.

BARRON: We know that opinion poll after opinion poll shows that the single most important factor in determining how someone feels about gay rights or about gay issues is whether or not they know someone who is gay or lesbian….

ROBERTS: I think for probably most heterosexual Americans this isn’t going to come as a big deal, but I think for millions of gay and lesbian Americans — me included — find this to be kind of a shocking admission, especially when Mehlman’s leadership, in the positions that he held, came at a time when he was part of talks that would have put discrimination into the Constitution.

Sarah Palin's "Take Our Country Back" View Of Scott Brown Goes Down In Flames On Fox

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

In Janurary after The Associated Press called Massachusetts's special Senate election for Scott Brown, Sarah Palin began a media tour, beginning on Fox News of course, and hailed the Republican's win as "a step for taking our country back."

Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton told POLITICO the following

"Gov. Palin spoke with a very happy Sen.-elect Brown this evening and congratulated him on his most historic victory for not only Massachusetts but the nation,"

Palin said: "This is a referendum on all those things that President Obama has been standing for," the 2008 vice presidential candidate told Fox's Greta Van Susteren. "It was many different factors all coming together — and thank God for that, I think a lot of the people will say, because this is a step for taking our country back."

In a posting on her Facebook page, Palin added: "Americans cheered for Scott Brown’s underdog campaign because they viewed his candidacy as a vote against the Democrats' health care bill."

But that's all over now. Since making good on his campaign promise to serve the will of his constituents, Sarah Palin is washing her hands of Brown for not pushing the conservative agenda no matter what.

On Fox Business Wednesday The former Alaska governor said that "you dance with the one that brought you" and that Republicans should not "follow the herd" by going along with the Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda.

This prompted Fox to ask if Scott Brown was "on notice," adding that "he's gone along with the Pelosi-Reid message for the past couple of votes."

PALIN: "That's Massachusetts," Palin replied. "And perhaps they're not going to look for such a hard-core constitutional conservative there and they're going to put up with Scott Brown and some of the antics there. But here in Alaska and so many places across the U.S. where we have a pioneering spirit and we have an expectation that our representatives in D.C. will respect the will of the people and respect the intelligence of the people. We wouldn't stand for that."

And once again, Palin shoots herself in the foot by displaying her political ignorance and for not understanding that the "will of the people" in Alaska has nothing to do with the will of the people in Massachsetts. She doesn't understand that the citizens of Massachusetts also have expectation that their representatives in D.C. will respect their will and not the will of the GOP.

This shouldn't come as any surprise to conservatives since Brown said during his camapign that he will sever the people of Massachusetts, but I suppose they were too focused on claiming Ted Kennedy's seat as a priority. I suppose that anything Brown said during the campaign was a bridge they would cross when they got to it.

Well....Sarah, meet bridge. Bridge, meet Sarah.

Fortunately this appears to be a bridge to somewhere. In a video titled "Palin's Winning Touch" they allow palin to take a victory lap over Joe Miller's predicted win over Lisa Merkowski. But it quickly turns into a blast against Scott Brown for voting with democrats a few times on issues important to the citizens of Massachusetts.

NYPD Arrest Man For Urinating On Rug In Mosque While Shouting "Terrorist!"

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 5 COMMENTS

In the latest in a spate of anti-Muslim incidents over the last two days, an intoxicated man entered a mosque in Queens on Wednesday evening and proceeded to urinate on prayer rugs, New York police officials said.

The man, identified as Omar Rivera, reportedly shouted anti-Muslim epithets and called worshippers who had gathered for evening prayer “terrorists.”

One witness told the New York Post the man was “very clearly intoxicated” and had a beer bottle in his hand at the time.

“He stuck up his middle finger and cursed at everyone,” Mustapha Sadouki, who was at the mosque at the time, said. “He calls us terrorists, yet he comes into our mosque and terrorizes other people.”

Rivera has been charged with criminal trespassing. FBI Special Agent Richard Kolko told msnbc.com that New York City has not seen a change in the number of hate crimes reported by Muslims so far this year.

DOJ Gives Sheriff Joe Arpaio Deadline To Hand Over Documents

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

The U.S. Department of Justice has given Sheriff Joe Arpaio until Friday to "provide clear and unequivocal agreement to cooperate" with their investigation into alleged civil rights violations. The DOJ wants Arpaio to turn over documents and cooperate with its inquiry.

Arpaio's office is being investigated for alleged discrimination, unconstitutional searches and seizures, and having an English-only policy in his jails that allegedly discriminates against people with limited English skills.

Arpaio believes the inquiry is focused on his immigration patrols. The DOJ threatened to sue the Sheriff's Office if it did not turn over records by an initial deadline of Aug. 17.

Robert Driscoll, a lawyer for Arpaio, said he didn't expect such a lawsuit to be filed before he met with officials. That meeting, however, ended in another deadline of Friday.

Republican Nevada Lawmaker Suggest 2% Tax On Food

Posted: Wednesday, August 25, 2010 | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

Nevada Assembly Minority Leader Pete Goicoechea, (R-Eureka), broke ranks with his conservative colleagues and admitted that the state is “going to have to have some revenues increased.” Appearing on KRNV-TV’s Nevada Newsmakers Monday, Goicoechea said “I believe that we should have had a 2 percent sales tax on food on the ballot this fall,”

Maybe it's time for Nevada residents to start paying State Income Tax like most other American's do.

That of course will be difficult with republican State legislators unable to deal with the deficit due to signing pledges to not raise taxes under any circumstances. I'm not sure if they believe the deficit will go away if they ignore it long enough or just until after election season.

Either way it's going to have to be paid and taxes are how we increase revenue. My generation paid for the spending spree that Ronald Regan went on and this generation will have to pay for what Bush spent getting us into this mess and what Obama had to spend getting us out of it.

MLK's Son On The Timing and Location of Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" Event

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 1 COMMENTS

Today in the Washington Post, Martin Luther King III, wrote this atricle about Glenn Beck's gathering at the Lincoln Memorial this weekend.

"This weekend Glenn Beck is to host a "Restoring Honor" rally at the Lincoln Memorial. While it is commendable that this rally will honor the brave men and women of our armed forces, who serve our country with phenomenal dedication, it is clear from the timing and location that the rally's organizers present this event as also honoring the ideals and contributions of Martin Luther King Jr."

King III said that he would like to be clear about what those ideals are. As I read through the article, I found these passages below that seem to be diametrically opposed to Beck's beliefs. I'm wondering how long it will take for Beck to suggest that Martin Luther King III doesn't know his own father as well as he thinks he does. No really! - I'm serious! - I can totally see Glenn Back suggesting such a thing.

"It is clear from the timing and location that the rally's organizers present this event as also honoring the ideals and contributions of Martin Luther King Jr. I would like to be clear about what those ideals are."

"My father championed free speech. He would be the first to say that those participating in Beck's rally have the right to express their views. But his dream rejected hateful rhetoric and all forms of bigotry or discrimination, whether directed at race, faith, nationality, sexual orientation or political beliefs."

"Although he was a profoundly religious man, my father did not claim to have an exclusionary "plan" that laid out God's word for only one group or ideology."

"My father did not claim that God was on his side; he prayed humbly that he was on God's side."

"I pray that all Americans will embrace the challenge of social justice and the unifying spirit that my father shared with his compatriots."

Laura Ingraham Tells Guest To See Video At Andrew Breitbart's Website In Heated Exchange

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , , 5 COMMENTS

In this exchange between Laura Ingraham and Manhatten Borough President Scott Stringer, Ingraham tried to get Stringer to say whether he agreed with Imam Abdul Rauf’s assertions that America has more blood on its hands than al-Qaeda. He ignored her and instead tried to get her to acknowledge her 2009 interview where she seemed to support the proposed plans.

They both tried to attack each other with examples of violence to show the other side as evil. Stringer brought up a cab driver who was stabbed when his passenger found out he was muslim. Ingraham went on the defensive against the incident citing a lack of details:

"Alright well, we don't know the details, I mean throwing out an example like that. We don't know the details of that Scott. Okay, you want to do an anicdote like that, I'm gonna throw down a dueling anicdote."

So what does Ingraham do? - She tells Stringer that he needs to see a video posted at Andrew Breitbart's website. - It supposedly shows a "Pro Mosqe" supporter shouting at an eldery man who was a holocaust survivor.

Shouting at a protest rally? - That's the best she could do? - Isn't shouting typical behavior at a protest rally? - But to refer anyone to watch a video at Andrew Breitbart's website shows what a tight spot she was in. I mean, folks aren't so fast to take any of Brietbart's videos at face value these days.

Nevada Gets Another $7M In Stimulus To Weatherize Homes

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

Fox 5 News in Las Vegas reports that Nevada will receive an additional $7 Million in Federal Stimulus to expand a home weatherization program.

Gov. Jim Gibbons announced the award Tuesday that will be administered by the state Housing Division.

Gibbons said Recovery Act grants have helped the state weatherize more than 5,300 homes owned by low-income residents.

Officials said the new grant money will be used to install in-home energy monitors, photovoltaic systems, solar water heaters, heat pumps, residential wind turbines, and perform deep-efficiency retrofits.

Rigtwing Pundits Lose Interest In Treatening E-Mailer After Guilty Plea

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 2 COMMENTS

When the story about Bruce Shore’s threatening e-mails to Sen. Jim Bunning first hit the blogosphere, I wrote in a blog post how the right wing punditry blasted the Obama administration for having the FBI track down this man and than have the US Marshal pay him a visit with a Grad Jury Indictment in hand. To many, this was a sign of the Obama police state that was coming and that Mr. Shore was being used as a scapegoat to go after the real target of the administration. Of course that is the First Amendment. But now that he's seen the light and changed his plea to guilty, support from the right for Mr. Shore as all but evaporated.

Jackie Headaphol originally orposted at Mlive.Com that “The first amendment of the U.S. Constitution allows Americans to write angry letters to their elected officials.”

It does? – I’ve read the First Amendment several times and could not find the passage that allows angry letters of any sort. What the First Amendment does is prevent the Government from infringing on the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.

People are often mistaken that the term “freedom of speech” refers to any and all speech and of course, that is a ridiculous presumption. If that were the case, The National Enquirer would never have paid out a dime to the list of celebrities that have successfully sued or settled their claims against the paper for what it printed. If freedom of speech was as broad as Ms. Headaphol seems to believe it is, White Aryan Resistance founder Tom Metzger would not have been sucessfully sued for his type of speech. But of course Ms. Headaphol should have been well aware that Mr. Shore was not indicted for “writing angry letters” but rather for sending threatening e-mails.

The indictment says that on Feb. 26, Shore "did utilize a telecommunications device, that is a computer, whether or not communication ensued, without disclosing his identity and with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, and harass any person who received the communication."

Ms. Headophol wrote that: “Unless Shore wrote a specific threat against Mr. Bunning in the email he was indicted for, this incident is disturbing to anyone who values their right to free speech. She then posted just a small snipit of one of Mr. Shore's e-mails to Sen. Bunning that read:

"ARE you'all insane," said part of one letter Shore sent on Feb. 26 (which he shared with HuffPost). "NO checks equal no food for me. DO YOU GET IT??"

However, she must have overlooked the part of Mr. Shore’s letter that said. “"IF THIS POLITICAL GRANDSTANDING DOES NOT END TODAY - WE WILL COME TO YOUR OFFICES AND MAKE OUR POINT."

Oh really! – Exactly whom are “we” and how will they “make” their point? – At gunpoint? – Or perhaps at knifepoint? - This is what I would have been thinking if I were on Sen. Bunning’s staff. They absolutely did the right think by handing over the e-mails to the authorities. Can anyone with a lick of sense imagine what would be said if the Obama administration just brushed the incident under the rug or perhaps even tried to block the FBI from investigating?

It must be time consuming to consistently come up with two responses for everything that Barack Obama does or doesn’t do or for what he said or shouldn’t have said. Now the point of this post is that on Saturday May, 29 Ms. Headoaphol made sure to updated her original post to add that Mr. Shore had pleaded not guilty to those charges that should "disturbe those that care about their freedom of speech."

However, now that Mr. Shore has seen the light and perhaps now understands that freedom of speech does not include any and all speech, he has pleaded guilty as charged. Yet Ms. Headaphol seems to have lost interest in any further updates to her original post. In fact, I've yet to see the level of support from the right for Mr. Shore since changing his plea from not guilty to guilty.

(In my best Glenn Beck/Kermet The Frog Voice) GEE That's funny...

Dear Dr. Laura and Sarah Palin: Please Read The First Amendment Before Speaking

Posted: Thursday, August 19, 2010 | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 9 COMMENTS

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin defended Dr. Laura Schlessinger after using the “N” word 11 times during an on-air conversation with a black caller. The public outcry was swift and immediate and was most likely a key factor in Dr. Laura announcing the end of her radio program. In two separate Tweets on Wednesday night, Sarah Palin unsurprisingly blamed the demise of Dr. Laura’s radio show on "Constitutional obstructionists" who trampled her rights under the First Amendment.

Ironically, for as big of a role that the Constitution plays in Sarah Palins political ideology, it’s a subject that she seems to know very little about. Even most 8th graders could articulate that the First Amendment only provides protection to citizens from Government attempts to restrict or obstruct the right to free speech. This misguided interpretation of the Constitution has been a growing trend within the Republican Party as well as their public relation arms otherwise known as The Fox News Channel and The Tea Party. They claim to be defenders of the constitution while simultaneously adapting an “ala Carte” approach to that very document.

When President Obama weighed in on the “Ground Zero Mosque” debate, he reminded everyone about the constitutional right of freedom to practice religion and the constitutional restriction for Government to establish or impose religion upon the people. Yet from Republicans comes talk about using the power of the legislative branch to ban the issuance of building permits for the construction of places of worship for a single religion. Also from republicans comes talk of amending the 14th Amendment of the Constitution to deny citizenship to a group of people that are primarily of a single ethnicity. Now that Glenn Beck has reformatted his Fox News show into a daily revisionist history lesson about the constitution, it’s becoming quite a task to even maintain the perception of being Fair & Balanced. If anything, Beck is simply preaching to the choir or to that segment of people that are politically unsophisticated, yet predisposed to embrace anything anti-Obama.

Even in her defense of Dr. Laura, Sarah Palin couldn’t resist using references to weapons and war in her Twitter post. Instead of encouraging Dr. Laura to standup and not back down from the public outrage, Palin urged her to "reload" and not "retreat," declaring that she'd be "even more powerful" and "effective" without "the shackles."

After the controversy erupted with calls for Dr. Laura's resignation, including from Media Matters for America, Schlessinger admitted the following day she did the "wrong thing." But just like Sarah Palin, Dr. Laura doesn’t seem to understand that public outrage over offensive remarks, regardless of outcome or consequences, are not an infringement upon First Amendment rights. Government is the sole entity from which that protection exists. Nevertheless, Dr. Laura lashed out at her critics using this false narrative.

"My First Amendment rights have been usurped by angry, hateful groups who don't want to debate," Schlessinger said. "They want to eliminate."

These are simple realities of life that people like Dr. Laura cannot seem to understand. Instead, they rationalize them in ways that minimize their responsibility and redirect some or all of the blame elsewhere. Why can’t she understand that as an employee of a radio network she is obligated to refrain from saying anything that would seriously offend listeners or drive away corporate advertisers. In fact, such an obligation is basically a conditional waiver of your right to say whatever you want.

Here’s the condition! – It’s really simple! - Unless you own your own radio station and do not rely on corporate advertisers for revenue, or answer to a Board of Directors or stockholders, you have no right to free speech behind that microphone. You’re a fucking employee and guess what? – If you cross the line your ass is fired!

How To Handle a Sabotaging Coworker

Posted: Monday, August 16, 2010 | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: 0 COMMENTS

We all like to think of our coworkers as friends, but what happens when you become the target of a coworker's dirty politics? Here are some strategies that can help you keep the peace without losing your edge, shared by fellow soldiers on the office wars' front lines.

Take Precautions
It is wise to have some good measures in place to protect yourself if you ever fall under a colleague's attack.

"Always have backup for everything you've done in case a coworker tries to place blame on you," says Aubyn Peterson, an administrative assistant for the Miss USA Pageant.

For instance, save all emails with pertinent ideas you contributed and work you've done. "This way, you can be prepared to answer any difficult questions from your boss confidently, and it won't just be your word against somebody else's," she says. "You'll have written proof."

Hispanic Media Complains of Blackout By Sharron Angle Campaign

Posted: Tuesday, August 10, 2010 | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

Hispanic media journalists are tracking the Senate campaign alongside their English language colleagues. But the editor of Spanish language newspaper El Tiempo says in 30 years, he's never experienced such a shutout as his team is getting from Angle's campaign.

"We never receive information, press releases, information on the place for talking with the community. Nothing," said Editor in Chief Hernando Amaya.

Hispanic television and radio reporters say the same.
Miguel Barrientos with KLAV-AM says calls to the Angle campaign go unanswered for weeks, leaving Hispanic media outlets at a loss to inform the community about the issues that affect them.

In contrast, Angle campaign spokespeople give statements and issue press releases to English language reporters. Amaya feels ignored by the campaign.

The Angle campaign held an event on Monday. Local Channel 8 News NOW and Hispanic media outlets were not invited.

A Chip Off The Old Mama Grizzle Block

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 5 COMMENTS

Sarah Palin has once again showed her utter disconnect with reality of everything that has nothing to do with Sarah Palin. It reminds me of that Saturday Night Live skit from the 80's about the father and son team that own the "Scotch Tape Store" - Scotch Tape is all that they sell and you can buy the 49 cent roll, or the 89 cent roll and that's it.

The Palins have found a way to make that business model work, except their only inventory is Sarah Palin. You can buy the Sarah Palin that will promote whatever you want her to promote, or you can buy the Sarah Palin that will say whatever you want her to say. Either way, they're just business transaction that have nothing to do with the country or the constitution. It's all about her own the bottom.

We got good look at that behavior during a visit that Sarah and Todd made to Homer, Alaska - They crossed paths with a local woman with 30-foot long sign that said :

"WORST GOVERNOR EVER"

Her name is Kathleen Gustafson and she was hopinhg that Palin would see the sign and she did. She also couldn't resist the temptation to confront Kathleen , a teacher married to a local commercial fisherman. She felt like Sarah Palin had let the state down by resigning as Governor. and she told Palin what she thought about it.

Kathleen: You swore on your precious Bible that you would uphold the interests of this state, and then when cash was waved in front of your face, you quit.

Palin had a few options of how she could responded, but as I said, Palin has a serious disconnect with how most people perceive things, which is vital in politics. Palin can't see that because other peoples perceptions are a nuisance and only serve to clutter up her own reality.

When Kathleen made mention of the "cash" that was "waived in Palin's face" there was no commennt about that and Palin just dodged it like she was in The Matrix. Instead, she shot back with a little snarky comment that sounded more like something an 8th grade girl would say.

Palin: OH, you WANTED me to be your governor! I’m honored! Thank you!

Palin second mistake was using the word "honor" in any of its tenses. It was a mistake like Newt Gingrich recently made on his website when he wrote about the repeal of California's Prop 8 and how it was an assult on "The sancity of marriage" - Oops! This from a man that walked out on his cancer stricken wife.

But this is typical of people like Palin and Gingrich that are blind from what they really need to be seeing. Newt got an earful from his readers because he couldn't understand that it might not be a good idea to speak so high and mighty on the sanctity of marriage when you've walked out on your own wife as she was battling cancer. Or in Sarah Palin's case, saying that you're honored that someone wanted you to be Governor when you walked out on the job before it was done. This woman, Kathleen let Palin know what her idea of "honor" was and Palin walked right into it because, like Newt, they just don't get it or do and don't care.

Kathleen: I wanted you to honor your responsibilities. That is what I wanted. I wanted you to be part of the political process instead of becoming a celebrity so that you could (inaudible). And if that’s the best you could do, then good for you. If that’s the best you could do.

Palin launched right into her sales pitch about "I'm fighting for America" and for "Americans to be able to have a Constitution protected so that we can have free speech" - Really? - She's going to tell this to a woman that was already in the process of exercising her constitutional rights to free speech. Sarah Palin could not see that even though the woman was holding a 30 foot long calling her "The Worst Governor Ever" It was laughable.

It's a stunning exchange and one that I'm glad was captured on videotape. Another example of this was when Palins daughter tried to defend her mom, which you would expect because that's her mom. I wouldn't expect anything less from anyone else in the defence of a parent or a child. But it was what she said to Kathleen that made it quite clear that in the Palin family, the fruit does not fall far from the tree.

Palin: Here’s the deal. Here’s the deal. (inaudible) That’s what I’m out there fightin’ for"

Kathleen: In what way are you fighting for that?

Palin: Oh my goodness!

Kathleen: In what way?

Palin: To elect candidates who understand the Constitution, to protect our military interests so that we can keep on fightin’ for our constitution that will protect some of the freedoms that evidently are important to you too.

Kathleen: By using your celebrity status, certainly not by political status.

Palins Daughter: How is she a celebrity? That’s my question.

Palin: I’m honored! No, she thinks I’m a celebrity!

Palins Daughter: That’s funny that you think she is.(a celebrity)

For Palin and her daughter to be surprised and not understand how this woman came to the conclusion that Palin is a celebrity is amazing! - And then for Mama Grizzle herself to sarcastically say that she was "honored" that this woman thought she a celebrity was just insulting. Maybe the security detail and the camera crew for Palins upcoming reality show was a good indicator. Yet neither mother nor daughter could seem to put that puzzle together.

Whatever is behind Sarah Palin's disconnect with everyday realities, it's hereditary.

Local News Poll - Sharron Angle 20% Harry Reid 78%

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

In an OPINION POLL by KTNV Channel 13 ACTION NEWS - Las Vegas, The question was asked:

If the election were held tomorrow, who do you think would win?

78%..........said Harry Reid
20%......... said Sharron Angle
2% ...........said they were not sure

Now to be truely "Fair & Balanced" the question was not "Who would you vote for" but nevertheless, these poll results certainly offer a stunning picture of what people think about Sharron Angle. She's made a series of missteps and comments that I believe her campaign will not recover from.

Has Sharron Angles avoidance of a sit-down interview with local news channels finally shifted the opinion of likely voters in her home state of Nevada? - In an effort to give the appearance that she is not avoiding the media entirely, Angle has sought friendlier ground some 2,700 miles away from Nevada at the Fox Cable News Channel in New York City.

KRNV Channel 4 News - Reno reported on the difficulties involved with getting Angles campaign to return phone calls. When they eventually did, they still would not make the candidate available for interview. That lead the on-air request for an interview with Angle in the clip below. It's something that I have never seen in my 30 years as a registered voter.

Why So Much U.S.Support For WikiLinks Leaker PFC. Bradley Manning?

Posted: Sunday, August 8, 2010 | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 10 COMMENTS

There is a growing support mechanism on the internet for U.S. Army intelligence analyst, PFC Bradley Manning. He was arrested in May 2010 and detained without charge for over a month in a military jail at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.

In early July, two misconduct charges were brought against him for "transferring classified data onto his personal computer and adding unauthorized software to a classified computer system" and "communicating, transmitting and delivering national defense information to an unauthorized source".The maximum jail sentence is 52 years.

Manning allegedly told journalist and former hacker Adrian Lamo via instant messaging that he had leaked the "Collateral Murder" video (of the July 12, 2007 Baghdad airstrike), in addition to a video, approximately 260,000 diplomatic cables, where aledegly leaked to the whistleblower website Wikileaks. Lamo then turned Manning in by handing over the instant messenger chat logs to U.S. investigators, who began searching for evidence to determine whether Manning's apparent statements to Lamo were true. Hat's off to Lamo. Just because you're a hacker, doesn't mean your not patriotic.

The "Collateral Murder" video showed an attack by a U.S. helicopter crew on a group of men presumed to be insurgents. Two children were wounded, and thirty nine men were killed, including the father of the children and two men who were later identified as Reuters employees. Manning reportedly said that the diplomatic documents expose "almost criminal political back dealings" and that they explain "how the first world exploits the third, in detail."

Manning said that he hoped the release of the videos and documents would lead to "worldwide discussion, debates, and reforms." Well...he was almost right. There does seem to be worldwide discussion and debate. Except it's not so much over what is on the video, but rather if Mannings actions make him some sort of humanitarian hero, or a complete and utter discrase to the United States Military and a traitor to his country.
.
Of course Fox News is letting the chyron on the lower third of the screen do their reporting for them by ascerting, or asking the question really, should American Troops be killed as a result of what is on the video that Manning supposedly leaked, shouldn't murder charges apply to PFC. Manning? - A rediculous supposition in my opinion. To do so would make Manning responsible for the loss of every American Soldier between now and the last one standing at the fall of our republic. Hopfully that supposition is a thousand years away, but I doubt it.
As for what PFC Bradley Manning is charged with doing with the video, that is certainly open to debate. So, which is it? -

Is PFC Manning A Hero for pointing out the teh ugliness of war?

-Or-

Is PCF Manning a turn-coat that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of military law should he be found guilty?

Newt Gingrich Blasted On His Website Over Marriage Hypocracy

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

From News Hounds

Fox News contributor Newt Gingrich probably got more than he bargained for when he posted a statement on his website criticizing the recent overturning of Prop 8, California's ban on gay marriage. Gingrich called the federal judge's decision an

"outrageous disrespect for our Constitution... Congress now has the responsibility to act immediately to reaffirm marriage as a union of one man and one woman as our national policy."

Gingrich's readers didn't quite see it that way. They pulled no punches challenging the hypocrisy of a thrice wed, wife cheater like Gingrich holding himself up as any kind of moral authority on marriage.

A person with username: dce1 wrote - Newt you cheated on your first wife then dumped her when she was in the hospital with cancer. Later you cheated on your second wife with a 27 year old congressional aide. Maybe you should pipe down about defending marriage.

Fox And Friends Spin Immigration Segment Like A Top

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , , 0 COMMENTS

In a segment on Fox & Friends about sham marriages, Alisyn Camerota explains how some people marry for love, while others marry to get their hands on a green card. Camerota said that with the United States cracking down on illegal immigration, more and more immigrants are using these shams marriages as a path to legal citizenship.

My initial thought was that perhaps this growing trend of "sham marriages" was an unintended result of Arizona's tough new immigration law, but it became clear, very quickly where this segment was headed, and who was at fault.

Steve Doocey introduces Jessica Vaughn, Director of Policy for The Center For Immigration Studies. Usually these segment start by the host asking a question, but Doocey couldn't wait to connect illegal immigration to terrorism and kick up the fear factor a few notches by introducing The Times Square Bomber, Faisil Shahzad's name into the conversation.

DOOCEY: "Good morning to you Jessica. Um, ya know the case of the Times Square bomber. Uh, how did he wind up with citizenship? He married into the United States of America. Tell me why this is becoming a big, uh a bigger problem?"

When Steve Doocey started to say that this was becoming a big problem, but quickly stopped himself and switched the word "big" for "bigger", you could sense that they already had a destination as to where this story was going. They just needed to finish reading their lines to get there.

VAUGHN: "Well the biggest problem is that under this administration now, the agency that's responsible for adjudicating all of these green card applications sees itself really as a facilitator of immigration and a promoter of immigration, rather than an agency that's supposed to weed out all the bad applications. The number of green cards that are issued based on marriage is in the hundreds of thousands every year. In fact, it represents about a third of all green cards and frankly a lot of these are fraudulent. Most of them (gulp) are legitimate. But it's really the easiest way for someone that is here illegally to pretty much launder their status. And they just have to get through a two year conditional residence period before they can divorce their spouse and then in a couple more years, they can become a citizen and then sponsor others."

If you didn't know any better, many viewers watching this exchange would be left with the impression that Faisal Shahzad, The Times Square Bomber, was able to gain entrance into this country and eventually obtain citizenship entirely as a result of the immigration policy "under this administration now" as Jessica Vaughn had just described to Steve Doocey as being "the biggest problem. "

I would describe Vaughn's attempt to single out the Obama Administration's immigration policy in this matter as disingenuous, particularly since she has written extensively about Shahzad's immigration status in the United States going back to 1998. According to the website for The Center for Immigration Policy, Jessica Vaughn wrote a scathing report indicating that Shahzad was first issued a student visa in Islamabad on December 22, 1998. This is what Vaughn had to say about the issuance of that student visa more than 11 years ago.

"It is difficult to justify the issuance of this student visa. Shahzad certainly failed to demonstrate that he had “sufficient academic preparation to pursue the intended course of study” at the University of Bridgeport, as the regulations required. He was applying as a transfer student, and his transcript from his correspondence course with Southeastern University, a now defunct fourth-rate academic program, showed a GPA of 2.78, including several Ds and an F (in statistics). Moreover, during the 1990s, the University of Bridgeport was financially and academically troubled, with its accreditation and reputation in serious jeopardy, and actively seeking foreign students to compensate for plummeting U.S. enrollment. Not only was the visa a mistake, but the visa officer appears to have erred in giving Shahzad a four-year visa when two would have sufficed to complete the program that Shahzad reportedly told officials he wanted to complete. Many news accounts have asserted that Shahzad underwent a “criminal background check” in order to qualify for the visa. Not exactly — in 1998 this would have been a check of CLASS, the consular database with information on prior refusals, ineligibility's, and derogatory information such as federal arrest warrants, and TIPOFF, which was a watchlist of known and suspected terrorists. Today’s watchlists and databases are far more comprehensive, but still would not have provided grounds for refusal, as Shahzad apparently had no serious criminal history. Under the law, however, the mere absence of a criminal or terrorist history is not enough by itself to qualify for a U.S. visa."

It would have been a good idea for Vaughn to mention her report when Shahzad's name was introduced into the conversation. With her firm belief that Shahzad shouldn't have been allowed into the country in the first place back in 1998, it makes the conversation of him obtaining citizenship via marriage, 11 years down the road, a bit silly. But of course I understand that if she were so inclined to be honest, she would have to do that on an entirely different network.

If you look at Vaughn's full report, titled Faisil Shahzad: So easy anyone could do it you can see how Shahzad was granted various different visas into this country beginning in December of 1998 through January of 2006 when his green card application was approved. All of which have nothing to do with "this administration now" as Vaughn emphasized during the segment.

Furthermore, the final paragraph of Vaughn's report shows that Faisil Shahzad met the conditional residence period in October of 2008 and applied for citizenship. Vaughn asserts that Shahzad's rush to apply for citizenship so quickly after meeting the requirement, should have been a red flag according to a DHS study - I agree, but what does any have to do with Barack Obama or his administration? - Do they think that by saying "the administration now" in lieu of "the Obama administration" makes any difference? - From my perspective. It makes all of the not-so-subtle implications throughout this segment of Fox & Friends seem very unfair & seriously unbalanced. Particularly when you compare it to Vaughn's own report on Faisil Shahzad.

Army Pvt. Bradley Manning's Sexuality A Component To WikiLeaks Drama

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 4 COMMENTS

Army Pvt. Bradley Manning's sexuality has surfaced in the WikiLeaks investigation and acccording to a friend, Manning's harrassment in boot camp is surfacing as a potential reason for his actions. He said that he and Manning met in a Washington D.C. gay bar and while their relationship was initially physical, they have become good friends. It was through this friend that Manning's alleged harrassment in boot camp surfaced.

CNN investigates Manning's troubled past in the U.K. following his parents divorce. A few a Manning's prep school classmates where tracked down in the U.K. and they described him as someone who would stick up for himself in a fight even if he knew that he would lose the battle. Another described Manning's ability to run complex computer code as young as age 14 or 15 and described him as talanted.

Manning has been directly accused of leaking an Army video to WiliLeaks. He is also suspected of leaking thousands of classified documents that appeared on WikiLeaks around the same time.

Should it come to pass that Manning is in fact guilty, and the reason for his actions are over boot camp harrassment and his opposition for Don't Ask, Don't Tell, he just handed the opposition a ton of red meat for keeping gays out of the military.

I'm just going to hope that this is all some sort of mistake at that Manning had nothing to do with leaking this video. Because no matter how distrubing the video is that Manning is accused of handing over to WikiLinks, there is no valid justification for it, especially not boot camp harrassment or an idiodic Military policy like DADT.

Is Sarah Palin Honestly Endorsing Candidates or Just Picking Ponies?

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: 0 COMMENTS

Beginning with Doug Hoffman, Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin jumped into the political endorsement arena as a way of keeping her own notoriety worthy of endorsing political candidates. Yes, I know! - It makes as much sense as powdered water, but I digress.

The issue with Sarah Palin's endorsement so far, is that she hasn't been playing the game long enough to understand the nuances of party politics and the negative consequences that may result from her endorsements. Particularly in consideration of some high-ranking Republican feathers that some endorsements have ruffled along the way. This either means that Palin doesn't understand how big of a factor this will be should she want to toss her hat in the ring for the 2012 Republican nomination, or it means that she does understand and simply doesn't care.

Palin endorsed Tea Party Candidate Vaughn Ward to gain the Republican nomination so that he could oust Democratic Rep. Walt Minnick. It should be noted that Ward was facing charges that he plagiarized portions of Barack Obama's 2004 Democratic National Convention speech and used them in his own campaign speech in January.

The allegations came after a series of missteps by Ward's campaign. Ward then fired his campaign manager following an embarrassing discovery that he (the campaign manager) had copied portions of various other political speeches. Ward later sought to rebound from that setback with an appearance with Sarah Palin. Even though Ward's campaign was in the midst of a plagiarism scandal, Palin endorsed the him anyway. Ward lost by nearly 10 percentage points to Republican rival Raul Labrador, 48.1% to 38.8% in the Idaho primary.

Next up was Palin's endorsement of GOP nominee Cecile Bledsoe for Arkansas’ 3rd Congressional District. On her Facebook page, Palin wrote the following about Cecile Bledsoe and misspelled the candidates name 4 out of 4 times.

"Just had a great talk with Cecil Bledsoe (and talk about “boots on the ground” in her grassroots campaign, she answered her own campaign phone when I called). She’s an inspiring individual whom I’m happy to support. Cecil is another Commonsense Conservative “mama grizzly” running for Congress this year. Her mission to protect our great country’s freedom is so commendable. Cecil is a pro-family, pro-2nd Amendment, fiscal conservative who will work hard for the people in Arkansas’ 3rd Congressional District. Please join me in supporting another member of the “pink elephant stampede” of Commonsense Constitutional Conservative women who will take this country back to our roots of limited government and fiscal responsibility. Please vote for Cecil on Tuesday, June 8th." - Sarah Palin

Bledsoe lost to Steve Womack.

Then Sarah Palin endorsed Todd Tiahrt in the Republican battle for Kansas Senate. Tiahrt's website promoted the Palin endorsement and reprinted the personal message Palin sent out via her facebook page. Notice how Palin's written endorsement of Mr. Tiahrt isn't nearly as long as her endorsement of Ms. Bledsoe or any other female candidates that Palin has endorsed. Here are the 40 measly words that Palin wrote on bahalf of Tiahrt.

"I want to remind the good people of Kansas to vote on Tuesday for Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate. He is a strong commonsense conservative who will serve Kansans with honor and help put our country on the right fiscal track."

Tiahrt lost his primary bid to Congressman Jerry Moran.

Palin then used the magic of her FaceBook page to endorse House candidate CeCe Heil in the Republican primary race for Tennessee's 5th Congressional District. On her website, Heil also promoted the endorsement and reprinted Palin's personal message that was sent out to the millions of Palin's FaceBook Friends.

"I’m pleased to lend my support to CeCe Heil’s campaign for Congress from Tennessee’s 5th District. CeCe is another tough “mama grizzly” with the experience, passion, and integrity to restore some common sense to Washington. As a small business owner, attorney, constitutional scholar, and proud mother of two, she will fight tirelessly to protect our freedoms and rein in the excesses of an out-of-control federal government that seems set on spending away our children’s future. CeCe brings the business sense and the constitutional understanding that is so needed in DC right now. Please join me in supporting CeCe Heil’s campaign by visiting her website at www.ceceforcongress.com and following her on Facebook and Twitter."

Heil lost finishing 3rd in the primary with less votes than both Jeff Hartline, the second place finisher endorsed by Mike Huckabee, and the eventual victor, businessman Dave Hall.

Palin's endorsements are very willy-nilly to say the least. In some cases, she is endorses serious conservative candidates that can win or are already predicted to win, but she has also endorsed some serious long-shots like Sharron Angle of Nevada.

Angle has lost 11 percentage point in the span of a week against Harry Reid. I think that it is due to her religiously based bigotry and her contempt for the media. Between now and election night, Harry Reid would need to be caught with a dead hooker buried under 20 kilos of cocaine in the trunk of his car for Angle to have a fighting chance. But of course, that's only my opinion. What do I know?

NYDaily News Poll: 94% Will Not Watch Sarah Palins TLC Premere 6% Will

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's reality show will premiere Nov. 17 at 9 pm on TLC, the network announced Fridey.

The eight-part series, produced by reality king Mark Burnett, will feature the former Alaskan governor, her family, and for at least one episode, Kate Gosselin and her children.

However, in a New York Daily News poll that asked it's readers if they would watch the premere. 6% responded Yes, it'll give us a good glimpse of the real Sarah Palin.

94% responded No, I've seen enough of her in the last two years.

Yikes!

Dear Sharron Angle: What Is Your Position On Gay Constituents?

Posted: Friday, August 6, 2010 | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

There are two extreme positions that Sharron Angle has not tried to walk back as she has the comments she made about MediCare and Social Security. I am referring to her position on banning gay adoption, and her most recently discovered proclamation that she would refuse any campaign contributions from a company that supports gay rights.

Angle answered on a candidate questionnaire that she would refuse political contributions from a private company that backs equal rights for gays and extends benefits to partners of gay employees. Angle laid out this position in a candidate questionnaire that she filled out for the Washington-based Government is not God PAC.

In question 35A of the questionnaire, Angle was asked:

Would you refuse PAC money from those who are fundamentally opposed to your views on social issues?

Angle checked the Yes box. The questionnaire then asked:

In reference to question 35A, Intel Corporation supports "equal rights for gays" and offers benefits to "partners" of homosexual employees. Would you refuse funds from this corporate PAC?

Angle again checked the Yes box.

The questionnaire was first obtained by the Associated Press, which did a story here about it without noting this question and answer from Angle.

The AP noted other eyebrow-raising answers in the questionnaire, such as her support for clergy making political endorsements. A copy of the full questionnaire is right here. The answer to the question on gays was first noted by Nevada Journalist Jon Ralston.

Perhaps someone in the media should ask Angle that in light of her firm opposition to gay issues and homosexuality itself, to what extent would her religiously rooted bigotry effect gay constituents seeking her assistance as their elected leader?

MSNBC: Cenk Uygur On Multiple Tea Party Candidate Primary Losses

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

Andrew Langer of the Institute for Liberty and Ari Melber of The Nation, spoke with Cenk Uygur on MSNBC to discuss three primary losses this week by Tea Party candidates. Two of which also had the endorsement of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Uygur: Andrew, how would describe the current state of The Tea Party?

Langer: "Well I think people are very fired up Cenk. I think in the end folks are really looking at the fall elections and the Tea Party activists are doing what activist all over the country have traditionally done. They've gotten involved in campaigns and whats wonderful about this season is that it's brought us a plethora of candidates from which to choose"

Uygur: "Was it wonderful to loose an 11 point lead that Sharron Angle had over harry Reid, and know she's trailing by 7?"

Langer: "When you have a primary that happens, you have candidates that rebound after a primary. Certainly you've spent weeks with candidates that have been fighting with each other. It's hard for parties to come back together after that."

Uygur: "Ari? - In response to rumors that the Democratic Party is actually looking to support Tea Parties in order to help weaken the right."

Melber: "I think people would be making a profound mistake to cherry-pick a few races where [Tea Party] challengers aren't winning," he says. "I think the Tea Party remains very powerful."

Christopher Hitchens Discusses His Cancer Daignosis With CNN's Anderson Cooper

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

Christopher Hitchens appeared on "Anderson Cooper 360" Thursday in his first TV appearance since being diagnosis with esophageal cancer. Hitchens, whose father died at 79 of the same disease, said that even he has wondered, "Why me?"

"You can't avoid the question however stoic you are, you can only bat it away as a silly one," he said. "Millions of people die every day. Everyone's got to go sometime. I've came by this particular tumor honestly. If you smoke, which I did for many years very heavily with occasional interruption, and if you use alcohol, you make yourself a candidate for it in your sixties."

As for his odds of survival, Hitchens says he is "realistic" about his chances given his diagnosis.

"I'm not resigned, but I'm realistic too. The statistics in my case are very poor. Not many people come through esophageal cancer and live to talk about it, or not for long. And the other wager is, the part of the wager, it's a certainty you'll have a terrible time and you may wish you were dying because it's an awful process. That you can't escape, you're going to get that no matter what. Then the torture may or may not be worth it or it will be torture by execution."

Another Palin Endorsed Candidate Goes Down In Flames

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

From HuffPO
Sarah Palin-backed House candidate CeCe Heil finished third in the Republican primary race for Tenneessee's 5th Congressional District Thursday, handing the former Alaska Governor her second failed endorsement this week.

Back in July, Palin lent her support to Heil in a Facebook post that described the "mama grizzly" as a "small business owner, attorney, constitutional scholar, and proud mother of two" who would "fight tirelessly to protect our freedoms and rein in the excesses of an out-of-control federal government that seems set on spending away our children's future."

Heil, who prominently featured her Palin connection on her campaign website, tallied less votes than both Jeff Hartline, the second place finisher endorsed by Mike Huckabee, and the eventual victor, businessman Dave Hall. The top three finishers in the contest were separated by a mere 350 votes.

Now Glenn Beck Says That Progressives Are Terrorist

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

Glenn Beck said that progressives terrorists today on his Fox News Program. He played his usual 3-card monty with the fact by phrasing some comments in the form of a question. In other instances he begins a sentence with an emphatic assertion, and then slowly ramps down his rhetoric so that by the end of a sentence, he's let all of the air out of the emphatic and hyperbolic assertion that he started with.

Like when he said "I think this President, over and over again has exposed himself as a guy with a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture." But then says in the same breath. "I don't know what it is." which is one of Becks trademark moves.

He'll begin by saying "I don't know what this means, but" and then proceeds to explain what it means after having just said that he doesn't know what it means. He did the same thing today when he said that "Progressives are terrorist." and then assigned the word "terrorist" everywhere it would fit within the paragraph. For example, Beck said:

“Fear is the way they get you to do nothing. It’s a tool. They terrorize you. They call you names. Many of these people are nothing more than terrorists, economic terrorists, free speech terrorists, religious terrorists, racial terrorists. They are attempting to silence you through terror. They have not gone to a flight school or strapped bombs to their chest, but they are terrorists just the same.”

Oh...so we're not that kind of terrorist, but we're terrorists just the same. Just the same as what? - The voices in Beck's head have him convinced that he can convince people that progressives are terrorist just the same as the 911 high-jackers, except we haven't gone to flight school or strapped on a bomb. Not yet at least. And you know what? - There will be people out there that can hear Glenn Beck's wingnut dog whistle loud and clear and he knows it.

Does his fear mongering drive me crazy? - Not at all. - It used to humor me greatly and there was a time when I would rush home to catch his show everyday without failure. But the self-proclaimed entertainer isn't all that entertaining anymore. Beck's crazy rhetoric has become so convoluted, that he's had to turn his Fox News set into a classroom just so he can teach enough revisionist history to fit the false narrative that he broadcast to his loyalist.

“The progressives are going to go crazy over this monologue. I don’t care. They will scream and whine about me calling them terrorists despite the fact that they do it to you and me on a daily basis. They’ll scream that there is nothing wrong with what Congress has done, or with this president and administration has done so far.”

Here is the irony of Glenn Beck and how his rhetoric is tailor made for the selective listeners that adore him. After calling progressives terrorist in about a half dozen different variations with a single paragraph. After telling his viewers that progressive are trying to silence them with terror. Beck tosses out a tiny jab at republicans on his way out the door as if that equals neutrality. Here's what Beck had to say:

"I can’t play that game. I won’t play that game. I still believe that there are people out there who are capable of not seeing the world through the us versus them mentality. There are still Americans who see the big picture of how the very fabric of our freedoms are destroyed when extremists on the Right and Left who insist on demonizing one another, and using scare tactics to gain supporters."

Poor Glenn. It must be absolutely draining to put on that show everyday while trying to remember all of the lies that he's told so they don't conflict with all new lies that are still to come.

Man With Terminal Illness Evicted For Medical Marijuana Use

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | 11 COMMENTS

A terminally ill man is facing eviction and may spend his remaining days homeless for smoking medical marijuana perscribed by his doctor. The housing complex where he has lived for 17 years wants to evict him because of the drugs he uses for his terminal illness.

He calls medicinal marijuana a necessity, but regardless of that fact that the marijuana is legal in his state, and was prescribed by his doctor, the housing complex says he is no longer welcome.
He recently received a letter from his housing manager saying he's kicked out of his home for "drug-related criminal activity," referring to his use of marijuana.

"When she gave me the notice, I even told her, I don't even have any plants. So ya'll just evicting me because I'm on medical marijuana," he asked.

While medicinal marijuana is legal in the state of Nevada, the regional housing authority says when they interpret the law, they go by what the federal government says.

"Our policy is zero-tolerance for drugs of any kind irrespective on whether or not they are licensed to use medical marijuana," says Carl Rowe with the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority.

Video Arizona Police Turn Woman Over To ICE For Running Stop Sign

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: 3 COMMENTS

There is no information on this woman other than the police being able to verify that she has previous voilations on her driving record. She refused to answer police questions about her citizenship, but according to a witness, after the police finished with the traffic infraction, the woman refused to answer any questions about her citizenship without her attorney being present. The police determined that to be sufficient enough to turn her over to The Border Patrol.

If this is some Hispanic looking American citizen trying to trick the police into deporting an American citizen as some sort of protest, this is not a very wise thing to do.

I'm an American citizen, I have a drivers license, and I speak english and spanish. So what would happen if the police pulled me over for running a stop sign, I provide them with valid I.D sufficient to drive a car, but refuse to answer their questions about what other languages I speak besides Spanish or where I was born because I neither of those things have anything to do with the reason that they pulled me over. Just like if they asked me what I do for a living. This may no longer be the case in Arizona, but elswhere the police do not have the right to question you outside of the scope of why they have stopped and or detained a civilian.

If they pulled you over because they think you're drunk, and they ask you if you
have consumed any alchoholic beverages, you are obligated to answer and answer truthfully. Refusing to answer or providing a false answer are both crimes and you can be arrested.

I was once pulled over for talking on my cellphone while driving. I gave the police officer my drivers license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. I assume to make general chit chat the cop asked me were I was headed to when he pulled me over. I told him that I was on my way home. But then he asked me where I was coming from when he pulled me over and politely said that it didn't matter since it had nothing to do with me talking on my cell phone while driving.

The cop flipped the fuck out. "I asked you a question!" he shouted at the top of his lungs. I told him again to ask me a question related to talking on a cell phone while driving and that I would be more than happy to answer it to the best of my ability.

"Look asshole, I'm gonna ask you ONE MORE TIME! - Where in the fuck where you coming from?"

I told him that I was coming from my grandma's house and without skipping a beat, he says: "Oh is that right? - And where does your grandma live?

"Over the river and through the God Damn woods! - What in the hell does that have to do with me talking on my cellphone!" I said sort of politely.

Out came the handcuffs and into the back of the squad car I went. He spent 10 minutes digging through my car, tossing shit out onto the sidewalk and when he didn't find any drugs or weapons, he gave me my ticket for the cellphone infraction and told me I had 2 minutes to pick up every piece of paper and shit that he tossed out of my car or he'd give me another ticket for littering.

So the cop drives away before I'm even done picking up some empty food wrappers and other stuff, but as soon as the cop left, this dude pops his head up over his backyard fence and tells me he got the whole thing on video. Boy, I would have loved to seen the look on that cops face when he got to work the next day and found that his little hissy fit was caught on video and that his watch commander had a copy.

I'm sure he just go a talkin to, but we have a civilian police commission that will verify that the incident is noted in his employee file. This is exactly the type of abuse that will occur by some police officers in Arizona now that that have this tool at their disposal. Cops somtimes forget that the people that they encounter are part of the citizenry they have not only been employed to protect, but have sworn to protect.

It analyzed all of the legal issues, the pros and cons from every conceivable standpoint and came out on the side of the gay and lesbian couples that we represented in every respect. Sarah Palin's Alaskan Gas Pipeline Project Likely Scrapped

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

On June 26, 2010 Sarah Palin was speaking at The Oil Palace in Tyler, Texas about energy independance. It was the same old Sarah Palin from the 2008 campaign trail. She started by saying how she has been spending alot of time in Texas lately and of course because Texas is a great, beautiful, patriotic State.

During the rest of the 5 minute speech, Palin said a whole lot about nothing in that random order that has become here trademark. The crowd applauded enthusiastically from time to time and as usual, it was never for anything of political substance or for an original thought of her own, but rather for one of her predictable jabs about what Obama doesn't seem to understand.

I was surprised that Palin would even want to speak publically about energy with her $40 billion pipline up in Alaska currently being uncovered as a shady deal that is most likely going to leave tax-payers on the hook for 500 million. If you recall during the 2008 campaign, Palin claimed,

“I fought to bring about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. And when that deal was struck, we began a nearly forty billion dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence.”

The problem with her saying "we began a nearly fourty billion dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence" is because the contract to build the pipeline to bring natural gas from Alaska to the Lower 48 States is just a concept that exist on paper only. There was no pipeline then, there is no pipline now, and it is now likely that there never will be a pipeline, at least not a pipline that Sarah Palin will have anything to do with.

On August 27, 2008, Palin signed The Alaska Gasline Inducement Act into law, which awarded a Canadian energy company a license and $500 million dollars as an incentave to "someday" build and operate the pipeline. It was supposed to carry natural gas from the North Slope, but since the contract doesn't explain how the gas was supposed to get to the lower 48, the gas would have to been sold to Canada or shipped off to China. So Palin's claim that this pipline was going to help bring America closer to energy independence was also a bunch of hooey.

Palin said it again during the the vice-presidential debate

"we’re building a nearly $40 billion natural gas pipeline — which is North America’s largest and most expensive infrastructure project ever — to flow those sources of energy into hungry markets.”

Maybe Palin doesn't know that (we're) buliding a pipeline means the same as (we are) building a pipeline. With every twist and turn into an AP investigation comes more revolations of Sarah Palin's questionable ethics. Particularly in the bidding process that eventually went to a company that Palin had connections with.

Palin claimed there was a "smart and fair bidding process" - but the AP found that her team crafted terms that favored only a few independent pipeline companies and ultimately benefited the winner, TransCanada Corp.

Despite promises and legal guidance not to talk directly with potential bidders, Palin had meetings or phone calls with nearly every major candidate, including TransCanada. The leader of Palin's pipeline team had been a partner at a lobbying firm where she worked on behalf of a TransCanada subsidiary. That woman's former business partner at the lobbying firm was TransCanada's lead private lobbyist on the pipeline deal, interacting with legislators in the weeks before the vote to grant TransCanada the contract.

Additionally, a former TransCanada executive served as an outside consultant to Palin's pipeline team. Under a different set of rules four years earlier, TransCanada had offered to build the pipeline without a state subsidy; under Palin, the company could receive a maximum $500 million.

Contrary to Palin's campaign promises to "build a pipeline quickly," the massive project to send natural gas south is still no sure thing. In fact, according to the Jeneau Empire, the bill was so poorly conceived that the state was urged to cut it losses at the time by former state petroleum economist Roger Marks, who said,

“State leaders made faulty assessments in their quest to land the long-sought pipeline project.”

I wonder why Glenn Beck isn't offering up one of his "Oh Gee That's Funny" comments in his Kermet The Frog voice about these very suspicious set of circumstances? - If the pipeline was all that she painted it out to be, perhaps Palin should have stuck around the Governors office long enough to see the project through.

The homophobes are flocking to FoxNews.Com to leave their comments about the reversal of California's controversial Proposition 8. It used to be a ban on "same-sex" marriage, but now it's
just unconstitutional.

Sharron Angle Exposes Fox News

Posted: | Posted by Chico Brisbane | Labels: , 0 COMMENTS

Instead of appearing on local news programs in her home state of Nevada, Sharron Angle travels 3,600 miles to New York City to make appearances on The Fox News Channel. Angle has made in-studio appearances with Sean Hannity, Carl Cameron, and spoke with the Jack, Janet, and Chrissy at Fox & Friends. She was also interviewed by Neil Cavuto and you could tell by the look on his face that he was not impressed with this candidate.

Angle says that she prefers Fox's national cable show over the local affiliates in Nevada because Fox will allow here to solicit campaign contributions on the air, which she has done as you will see in the video below.

ANGLE: Well, in that audience (FOX) will they let me say I need $25 dollars from a million people go to Sharron Angle.com send money? Will they let me say that? Will I get a bump on my website and you can watch whenever I go on to a show like that we get an immediate bump. You can see the little spinners. People say ‘Oh, I heard that. I am going and I’m going to help Sharron out because they realize this is a national effort and that I need people from all around the nation. They may not be able to vote for me but they can certainly help.”

This is deja vu of Sarah Palin's interviews with Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson. Angle's reasons for preferring Fox News has nothing to do with being allowed to solicit donations or even being asked softball questions. This is about Fox News not asking specific questions about her well documented support for the privatization of social security and medicare.

These are comments that any legitimate news organization would seek clarification of for their viewers. Instead, Fox News simply raises the subject with their generic "some people say" that you want to do away with social security and medicare and they sit back and allow her to deny making these comments knowing that she has made them.

I am very disappointed with Fox News because they are usually very good at playing spin the narrative. But they fail to understand that you can't just play this game with anyone. This is the type of game that requires cognitive thinking and it should only be played by those with the political skills to pull it off.

Sarah Palin had to crash and burn a few times with Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson before sticking primarily to Fox News programs for their softball questions. Sharron Angle can't even pull off softball questions at Fox News right out of the gate. - She told Carl Cameron that the media should be her friend and only ask the questions that she wants to answer. That way they can report it the way that she wants it to be reported. Really! So that's the way it's supposed to work. Well shit! - That makes running for political office much easier.

What other bright ideas do you have floating around in that empty head Sharron? - Maybe on election night, folks should just stay home unless they're gonna vote for you? - How does that sound?
